You’ll Never Understand
You’ll never understand
Midnight in the Rocky Mountains in Winter
The crisp air that burns your lungs with cold
The crunch of snow under your soft feet
The darkness of the night secretly brought to life
There is nothing in the world like laying down in 3 feet of snow
Gazing at the sky
Silence so loud you can’t hear anything
Else outside of the sky
Do you know you can hear the sky?
You’ll never understand
What I feel in my heart
As it quietly slows to blend in with the landscape
Me, hoping it would stop altogether
So the pounding in my veins would silence
And I could finally hear all of what the night is saying
My mind always thinks of one of my favorite lyrics
“In the winter night sky, ships are sailing”
I lie still picturing the ships
Did you know that you can see ships in the sky?
You’ll never understand
What I see in the stars
As galaxies shape and bend
As the moon lunges out to light up the night
And all creations bow to the might of darkness
The sun is shoed away
And I wait for the real beauty to crawl forward
The secrets the stars hold could shatter humanity
Or bring all of mankind together
The stars, for me, are my home, my rock
They tell me what’s right and what’s true
While passing on secrets they store in the ether
Have you ever whispered a secret to the sky?
You’ll never understand
How sure I am
That one day I’ll get lost in the stars, in the mountains, in the snow on a cold winter night
And I’ll forget to pull myself out
Do you understand that?
